Is "Jeep" his real name?

Not exactly, but he's had it since he was born. Jeep's mom and dad were in the Air Force when he was born. Garland Paul Campbell and Lorretta Evans Campbell named their first son Garland Paul Campbell II, after his father.

Garland senior wore "GP Campbell" on his uniform and Air Force buddies called him GP or Geep. (Which in military-speak is short for General Purpose vehicle or "Jeep.") When little Jeep came along he got tagged with the moniker too. While GP senior lost the nickname after he left the Air Force, it stuck on his son--a long, long time.

Apologies to Daimler/Chrysler/AMC/Jeep (or whatever they're called today). Jeep Campbell is no relation, but he's keeping the name.
